In simpler terms, an expired domain name is that domains that are just registered for specific period. In case, they are not renewed, they will expire and become available for purchase by anyone.

An expired domain name could be very precious and invaluable, as it has had a considerable amount of time and effort spent on advertising and promoting it over the web. The combined effect of time and effort gives you a host of benefits and advantages, as soon as you register a particular expired domain name.

* Advertising Revenues: A number of expired domain names accrue passive income to you, which trickle slowly over a period. The expired domain name that you register might have had a series of different advertising campaigns paying out different returns. For example, a corporate services advertising campaign will always pay more than a health advert campaign that pays lesser payout.

  • Another notable benefit with an expired domain name is the large inventory of site visitors. The expired domain that you own may have had a series of dedicated and loyal visitors. These visitors always from an invaluable link or traffic to your site. More the links you get to your domain, higher will be the search engine rankings. Similarly, more visitors also mean, more number of clicks your advertising links are likely to get. All these user friendly actions will result in an increased income.

  • Essential Elements of Developing Copy that Generates Real Traffic

    Copyright © 2004-2007 Bill Platt

When you finally decided to start your own business, and you built your website for the purpose of developing your business, your goal was clear. You wanted to make lots of money and to be in business for a very long time.

Who can blame you? The thought of going to a job everyday for the rest of my life kills me too.

The Basic Challenges Of Internet Marketing

    Links, links and more links.

Whether we are talking search engine results, ezines, articles, classified advertising, or other types of advertising, the link is the method used to bring your targeted customer on the Internet to your website. They click the link and visit your website to learn more.

Placing the link is often the simple part of the equation. The eyes seeing your link and the mouse clicking your link is the real challenge in this Internet promotion game.

See, it is possible through FFA link sites and the such to get your link posted on hundreds or thousands of pages on the Internet. But, just because your link appears on these pages does not mean that anyone will actually see your link.

The same applies to search engines. Your site might be listed in Google, Yahoo, AlltheWeb, AltaVista, ExactSeek, MSN or dozens of other search engines. But just because your site is listed in their database, does not mean that the searcher will use the right keyword combination or click through the results deep enough to actually see your links.

The first challenge is to get your link seen. The second challenge is to get your link clicked.

You know as well as I do that not every link provides the proper enticement to get you to click the link. Why should you believe that everyone else is different from you? You shouldn't. The challenge for you is to properly entice your potential visitors to click your link and visit your website.

Second Challenge, First --- The Lure

Getting people to click your link is as simple as writing good copy.

Depending on the placement location of your actual ad copy, you may have only ten words, seventy words, or one thousand words to seduce people to visit your website.

Let me make one point very clear. Even if you have one thousand words to make your plea, the first ten words are always the most important words you will write.

Press releases should always have the information top-loaded --- you must place your most important information in the first couple of paragraphs.

With straight advertising copy, you should expend a great deal of time and thought to your first ten words. Those ten words are the ones that will draw people into your actual copy. Unless you can lure people into reading your copy, the value of the copy itself serves no useful purpose.

Just as it was with this article, you were drawn into the actual copy by the first ten words of the article, aka. the title of the article.

Note that I have used the words "entice", "seduce" and "lure" in this article. These words are essential to writing good copy. You must be able to touch on the desires of the reader, to peak their interest, and then you must leave them wanting more. In order to get more of what they want, the reader must visit your website. Master this paragraph, and you will master the art of writing good copy.

First Challenge, Second --- Getting Seen

One of the most common deceptions on the web is the promise to have your site submitted to thousands of search engines. Most of these so-called search engines are actually FFA sites! Yahoo! only lists 262 search engines. At one time, I had read on About.com that there were fewer than 500 search engines. Beware the fox in sheep's clothing.

Many people utilize Search Engine Optimization for use with the real search engines. But, keep in mind, the search companies are always changing and tweaking the algorithms used to produce their results. You might use SEO now and get a top 10 ranking, but there is no assurance that your top listing will stand the long-term. I have often impressed upon people to do the basics well, and the results will fall into place just fine.

Sponsor ads on websites do very well when the site caters specifically to people in your target market.

Ezine publishing and advertising has always been touted as the best way of drawing traffic and sales to your website. There is a lot of truth in this statement.

Important Notes About Ezine Publishing And Advertising

As a publisher, the road is a long and hard one. It takes a lot of time, effort and hard work, in addition to a certain amount of effective advertising to build the ezine list. Of course, when it is done well, the rewards of ezine publishing can be phenomenal in the long-term.

As an advertiser, you can employ the publisher who has already done the hard work, to help you to promote your business.

For the creative marketer, writing free-reprint articles and getting them into the hands of ezine publishers can be an exceptional method of developing more long-term traffic and sales for their website. Publishers and webmasters are always looking for good, informative content to share with their readers. Some of these ezines are archived on the Internet giving rise to the long-term effectiveness of the articles that have been published.

For the creative marketer who is using free-reprint articles to promote their business, the resource box which appears at the end of every article, is the ad copy and link that will take the reader directly to the writer's site. The article itself often serves as the greatest lure to bring the reader to the writer's website. The article creates the desire to learn more about the writer, and the resource box tells the reader what to expect when they get there.

The neat thing about free-reprint articles is that between archived ezines and websites who publish your articles, it becomes fairly easy to get your copy and links on hundreds of websites, and those links will likely remain there for years to come.

    In Conclusion...

If you are paying for link placement, you need to track your click through's (CTR's) from those links. If the links are not generating traffic for you, examine the reasons why. Maybe the reason is your copy and maybe it is the link location. Make the changes necessary to permit the link to pay for itself or get rid of it.

If you are writing articles for reprint, track those links also and look at their total success rate over the long-haul. Figure out which articles provided you the best results, and make a determination as to why. Once you know why a particular article or ad is successful, then you can make good decisions about how to get the best results from your future efforts.

Three Steps To Success Anyone Can Duplicate

Copyright © 2007 Vasrue.com, All Rights Reserved Written by: Clinton Douglas IV

Success means different things to different people. Whatever your definition of success, this article will help you realize your goals.

If you define success in terms of a good job or a profitable self-owned business, then this article may become the turning point in your life. As you read, I will share some of my success secrets, which I have been able to execute in my own online business.

What It Means To Be A Leader

During my time in the U.S. Army as an Army Staff Sergeant, I learned valuable lessons about leading teams to the successful completion of projects. I learned that by following the direction of good leaders, one could build the confidence and skill set necessary to become a successful leader.

Good leaders quickly separate themselves from the masses of people who simply live day-by-day doing only the bare minimum to keep their job one more day. In other words, leaders stand out in a crowd of managers and workers.

While the Army tried hard to bring leadership qualities out in all of their people, the truth was that leaders are those who decide to go the extra mile and to create a brighter future for themselves and others around them.

A good leader is simply the person who "helps" you to become the best person you can become, by teaching you how you can "help" other people to become successful too.

One Decision Can Change Your Destiny

    Are you waiting?

Are you waiting for "me" to tell "you" the secret to success?

It is time for "you" to make a decision, now.

You must decide to stop waiting for success to come to you. Success simply will not fall out of the sky into your open arms. It does not work that way.

You must "decide" to become successful. If you are waiting for success, then success will never come your way. But, once you understand that success is waiting for you, and you decide to go get it, no matter what, then you will have changed your destiny for the better.

Follow In The Footsteps Of People Whom You Wish To Emulate

While I was in the U.S. Army, I learned how to seek out leaders who were willing to share with me their secrets to success. I actively sought out people who could help me to become a better leader.

Even in my daily life outside of the Army, I found several opportunities to hook up with people who exuded leadership qualities, people who were willing to share with me their own secrets to success.

The truth is that there are people who may doubt their own abilities to have something to share, but if they doubt themselves, they are wrong. Everyone has something important to teach others, but it takes a gem of a person to understand that the role of a leader is to teach others, what "they" take for granted.

A Lifetime Of Learning Over Lunch

Just the other day, I had lunch with a fellow who is probably responsible for selling more cars in our area than anyone else. In our local metropolitan market, if someone asks about a great car dealer, his name will surely be mentioned.

My lunch partner knew that I have a successful website, and he also knew that I had an interest in learning more about what is required to be successful, from him.

To my surprise, his first words were, "Clinton, I don't know if I can offer anything to you that would help you. I sell cars, and that is what I do. You have some kind of online business, and I cannot even venture to guess how you make your money."

My lunch partner went on to say, "I appreciate the offer to share a lunch with you, but your business and my business are so different. I would not even know where to begin in giving advice to you."

Despite his initial hesitation, we went on to have a great meal, and I learned a lot! I could literally spin several articles just on the knowledge that he was able to impart to me over lunch.

If You Want To Be Rich, Listen To Rich People

Online and offline, I like to associate with people who have been successful in their fields. I learn so much about growing my business, by listening closely to people who have defined their industries.

Even online, there are key people whom I pay close attention. With every conversation, I hear some gem of information that I can apply to my own online business. These tidbits of information pieced together have helped me carry my website from one in millions to one that has served more than a million visitors.

Success In Three Simple Repeatable Steps

My car dealer friend finally put aside the idea that he could not help anyone outside his own industry, and we had great conversation.

When I asked him the secret to selling cars, he said he could sum it up in three steps:

    * Talk to your customers. When you understand the needs of your customers, then you know how you will best be able to help them solve their problems and achieve their goals.

    * Follow-Up. People rarely buy on their first visit, so it is important to follow-up with them. When buying big-ticket items, people tend to shop around a little bit more. When you follow-up, you are frequently creating a relationship with your customer. When all is said and done, if two products are substantially equal, it is often the relationship the customer has with the sales person that will "seal the deal."

    * Be persistent. Persistence does not equate to being pushy. Persistence means that you follow-up, once, twice, three times, and more if necessary. If a salesperson is obviously "only" interested in satisfying his or her own interests, then persistence could be construed as pushy. But, when your goal is to be persistent with the goal of helping the customer solve his or her problems and satisfy his or her goals, then persistence is a quality to be appreciated.

    Learning Anew Each Day

Bill Platt at The Phantom Writers (http://www.thephantomwriters.com) taught me the same lesson last year. Bill always tells me that the secret to success online is "consistency." He says that we need to talk to our potential customers, and we need to keep the conversation going by consistently talking to potential customer base.

John Reese of Marketing Secrets (http://www.marketingsecrets.com) taught me the same lesson. He emphasized that I need to develop a newsletter or an auto-responder series so that I could create and keep an ongoing conversation with my potential customers. Reese also taught me to track my results (follow-up) on everything that I do for my business.

Since I started my website in 2001, I have noticed that all of my mentors tend to teach me the same lessons over and again in their own terminology.

All of my mentors continue to tell me to talk to my customers, follow-up, and to be persistent in talking to my customers

With so many people who are successful in their own industries sharing with me the same sage advice, I tend to pay attention.

    Final Thoughts

It does not matter whether you seek to use this information to help your career or to build an online business.

Make your decision today; decide to be successful. And then follow the golden rule of helping others to achieve what they want to achieve, follow-up, and be persistent in your efforts.

If you play your cards just right, in just a few years, you might be the mentor that we will all want to attentively listen to and appreciate.

9 Ways to Reduce Chargebacks and Fraud

    Copyright © 2006-2007 Scott Burke

Merchant concern about online credit card fraud and chargebacks is rising at a significant rate. According to the 2001 Online Fraud Report, conducted by Mindwave Research, it revealed that, "41% of merchants say the issue of online credit card fraud is 'very serious' to their business." As e-commerce continues to flourish the number of instances of credit card fraud and chargebacks will continue to mount higher. It should go without saying that the need to take certain measures to reduce and virtually eliminate chargebacks and fraud is certainly paramount.

Chargeback, the word that Internet merchants fear. A chargeback is what it's called when a transaction is reversed. In other words, rather than adding money to your account it is deducted. Chargebacks can occur for a wide variety of reasons, such as double-charging, credit card expiration, bank error and customer disputes. If you get too many chargebacks against you, there is a possibility that you will lose your merchant account. Once you've lost your merchant account you are placed on the Visa/MasterCard Terminated Merchant File (TMF/MATCH list) for several years which all Merchant Account Providers have access to, and if they find you on the list they won't reissue a merchant account to you. If you are one of those merchants who have lost their merchant account, there is still hope. Imax Business Solutions specializes in helping companies who've lost their merchant account because of excessive chargebacks.

Here are some ways you can greatly reduce the instances of chargebacks and fraud, even potentially eliminate the risk altogether:

    #9 Collect CVC2 and CVV2 Verification Numbers

This tactic alone can not only reduce instances of chargebacks by 26%, according to Visa, but also reduce any pass-through fees that may be charged when a credit card order is conducted. On the back of MasterCard, most Visa and Discover credit cards is a 3- digit security code located right after your credit card number. Requiring customers to give the 3-digit code acts as an additional verification measure. American Express cards also have a similar security code that is located on the front of the card right above the cardholder's account number and is usually 4- digits long. Most online payment processors support entering the security codes when processing credit card orders. Check with your payment gateway provider (i.e. Verisign, Authorize.Net, ECHO Inc., etc) for details.

#8 Use Address Verification System (AVS)

AVS checks to ensure the address entered on the order form matches the address to where the cardholder's billing statements are mailed to. People ordering products and/or services using a stolen card number will never use the real cardholder's billing address, so this is your chance to stop the order before it's too late. AVS only works with orders conducted in the US. Failure to use AVS when processing credit card transactions will always result in paying higher credit card processing fees.

#7 Scrutinize orders from developing foreign countries

A large percentage of fraudulent Internet purchases are made from Indonesia, Russia, and other eastern block or developing countries. Accept orders from such countries at your own risk until a worldwide AVS system is developed.

#6 Let customers know what name will appear on statements

Many merchants who use 3rd Party Processing companies have run into problems because the company name that appears on cardholder's monthly statements is usually the name of the 3rd party processing company and not the company name of the site the cardholder made their purchase from. This isn't always the case, but in many cases it is. If you use a 3rd party processor, and even if you don't, make sure the customer knows what name will appear on their credit card statement at the end of the month. This will help to reduce any confusion that might would otherwise occur.

    #5 Handle suspicious orders accordingly

If an order seems suspicious the best way to handle the situation is to either call or e-mail the customer and attempt to verify that they placed the order. As a rule of thumb, if in doubt, check things out. It may be a good idea that if a customer makes an unusually large volume purchase from your site to follow-up with a verification call.

#4 Watch out for orders using free e-mail addresses

Be wary of accepting orders from people who used a free e-mail address when ordering (i.e. Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.). Tracking people who used a free e-mail address is almost impossible, it's much easier for them to get away then if they used their Internet Service Provider (ISP) or their own company web site e-mail address. To check whether an e-mail address is a freebie or not just take the part of the address after the "@" symbol, add "www" to the front of it and see what website it brings up (i.e. joe@yahoo.com = www.yahoo.com).

    #3 Signatures on delivery

If your business delivers products use a carrier that requires a signature on delivery, and allows you to have a copy of the signature. Retain these for your records.

#2 Request fax copies of ID and credit card

You may want to request your customer to fax a copy of both sides of their credit card and driver's license. This tactic usually works best in a B-to-B (business to business) sales environment. While this is not a defense under Visa or MasterCard rules, it is yet another way to deter fraud.

    #1 Posting a warning message

Taking the time to post a warning message on your order page to those who may attempt to make a fraudulent order will greatly deter the number of instances of fraud. Be sure to mention that IP (Internet Protocol) addresses are being logged. IP addresses can come in handy when locating people about fraudulent orders.

Taking measures to deter and eliminate fraud and chargebacks from occurring are a necessity in order to operate a successful online business. Each day companies dedicated to risk management are developing solutions to provide merchants, like yourself, with extra protection because of the financial burdens chargebacks and fraud can bestow if ignored.

A Gift Of Flowers Is Better Than An X-Box

Copyright © 2006-2007 Wesley Berry, AAF

One of today's hottest items, and among the most requested gifts, is the X-Box game system. Although video games are a lot of fun, the money it costs to buy an X-Box would be better spent on flowers. In fact, according to a study titled the Home Ecology of Flowers Study conducted for the Society of American Florists (SAF) Flower Promotion Organization (FPO), flowers have an amazing affect on those who include them in their lives.

The study was conducted by Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., who is a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and a practicing psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. One of the findings of the study was that they fuel compassionate feelings in people. Participants in the study began to experience more feelings of compassion towards other people after living with flowers for less than one week.

The study also showed that flowers help people to feel less anxious, worried, and depressed when they were at home. When participants were at home with flowers they quickly began to feel less negative. Because they wanted to see the flowers as much as possible and as soon as they woke up each day, the participants placed their flowers in areas where they would be spending a great deal of time, such as the kitchen, dining room, and living room.

Another finding of the study was that they improve the energy and enthusiasm of people who live with them even when the flowers aren't present. Participants felt better and happier in their workplaces just because they had flowers at home.

To help spread the great news of the positive impact of flowers, Dr. Etcoff will serve as the spokesperson for the SAF/FPO alliance for a major public relations campaign set to begin soon. The campaign will make the findings of the Home Ecology of Flowers Study public and keep generating information about flowers. Included in the campaign will be a press kit for print media, a satellite television tour, and other materials.

Incredible news like this is definitely cause for celebration. May I suggest a party complete with gifts? But, forget the X-Box, give flowers, instead.

A Fall Wedding For Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaugn

A Fall Wedding For Jennifer Anniston And Vince Vaughn?

Copyright © 2006-2007 Wesley Berry, AAF

After more than a year of neither publicly affirming nor denying their romantic relationship, Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vaughn are finally engaged. On June 27th Vaughn proposed to Anniston miles above the earth in a plane flight home from their nine-day vacation in Mexico. Although we florists recommend a proposal complete with a beautiful bouquet of roses, happily the outcome was a good one for Vaughn, even without roses-Anniston said yes. The question now is whether or not the couple will draw out their engagement without details leaking to the press, or will they move quickly and throw a fall wedding?

Summer is still the most common season for weddings, but the number of fall and winter weddings is on the rise. As reported by the Society of American Florists, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, June is still the most common month for weddings, followed by July, August, and September. However, October is running very closely behind September as a popular wedding month. September's statistics show 8.9 weddings per 1000 people while October is at a very close 8.5 weddings.

If Vaughn and Anniston should decide to get married in the fall, they'll have lots of gorgeous flowers and floral accessories to choose from. The fall color palate includes rich reds, robust oranges, warm golds, and deep burgundies, wines, and hunter greens. Such gorgeous colors are the perfect compliment to the colorful show nature puts on in the fall. Flowers and accents that are often used in fall weddings are orange gerberas, hydrangeas in rust or burgundy, apricot-colored lilies, vines, and hypericum berries.

Of course, traditional roses are also an excellent option, but those within the fall color palate are preferable for an autumn wedding. Some good fall-colored rose choices include:

  • Leonidas: A dark, bi-colored chocolaty brown rose.

  • Black Magic: The darkest of the burgundy roses.

  • Terra Cotta: The rich orange color of a flowerpot.

  • Hocus Pocus: Small burgundy roses with playful yellow spots.

  • Star 2000: A dark coral-orange rose.

  • Red Berlin: A bright, tomato red rose.

  • Konfetti: A yellow rose with a reddish-orange tint on the edges.

  • Sari: A rose with a golden-orange color.

  • Mambo: A bright tangerine colored rose.

Regardless of the season Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vaughn choose to be married in, there's no doubt that with the help of a professional and skilled florist, their wedding flowers will be as beautiful as the bride.

What is the best way to select an affiliate program?

The world of affiliate marketing is full of opportunity. There are very few jobs in life that take such little effort that can lead to such big rewards. But as is the case with most jobs, what you put into it will closely reflect what you get out of it.

So, how can you maximize your time as well as your dollars? Here are a few tips to point you in the right direction when it comes to picking out the affiliate marking opportunity for you.

    • You gotta believe! One of the golden rules of affiliate marketing is that if you don’t believe in the product, how do you expect the people you’re steering to it to believe in it? You can’t. You should only choose a product that you like, a product you have tried and found to be of good quality and maybe even a product you actually use! Remember, you have two choices when you set up your affiliate website, you can just toss a bunch of links on a page and hope people click on them, or you can create a cool page full of great and interesting to read content on the product your linking to. If you’re trying to write content about a product you think stinks or isn’t a good buy, it’ll show. The more passionate you are about that product, the better your chances are of making money.

    • Knowledge is the key! This one is a bit tougher, but it’s becoming easier by the day. There are, simply, thousands of affiliate marketing opportunities out there for you. And even better, almost all of them are free, so you have a pretty good selection to choose from. The second golden rule of affiliate marketing is to choose a product that you know a lot about, or, at the very least, a product that you can talk a lot about. Need an example? Say you’re in an affiliate marketing program with Amazon.com. It would probably help your site if you’re an avid reader (if you link to the book section) or if you can do album reviews (if you link to the music section.) This is good advice even if you aren’t linking to an online superstore. If you are linking to a candy company, provide some content about how candy is made or who invented it. If you’re linking to a company that makes skateboards, talk about Tony Hawk or the X Games. Getting people to read your content and convincing them to click on that link and to buy that product is the whole point of affiliate marketing. You’ll be much, much more effective if you are knowledgeable about what you’re trying to sell!

Affiliate marketing is a gold mine waiting to be picked. The amount of money you can make is staggering, but you can make a lot more if you follow the golden rules. By being passionate about what you sell and being knowledgeable about the field, you’ll convince many more folks to click away and buy.

What uses are affiliate program directories?

If you have decided to enter into the world of affiliate marketing, chances are you already have a good idea of what you want to sell. You probably already know what you want your site to look like and you even have an outline in your mind of what your content will sound like once your site is open and ready to go. But before you do any of that, you have to join an affiliate program. How do you find these programs? It’s easy. You use affiliate program directories.

These sites keep complete databases filled with the latest and greatest affiliate programs. They are usually searchable and provide you with all the information you need to get your site up and running as soon as possible. Let’s take a look at what other services these affiliate program directories provide.

    • The first thing you’ll see when you visit one of these sites is a list of programs you can sign up for. We’ve talked in earlier articles about how important it is for you to be knowledgeable about what you sell so that you can write captivating content and its in these directories that you’ll find programs that match your interests. If you want to run an affiliate website that sells car parts, you’ll find it here. The same goes for pet supplies or mail-order cakes and pies. No matter what your interest is, you can find the perfect affiliate marketing opportunity in one of these directories.

    • Most of these directories have a list of the best programs or the highest recommended programs, too. This can be a big help if you’re new to affiliate marketing and you want to take on a well-respected company first. This will help you in various ways since you’ll be dealing with an affiliate program that has a history of making money as well as a program that you can trust to not take advantage of you. The best-of list on the affiliate program directory sites can be a big help.

    • You’ll also find a whole slew of resources for affiliate marketers. The sites usually contain articles about how to get the most out of your site and ways you can increase your sales. These resources can be used over and over again and are worth visiting for the advice alone.

Affiliate program directories are the starting point for the money making adventure known as affiliate marketing. Without them, we would have a sea of affiliate marketing sites with no products. The directory sites allow users to choose exactly the right program for you so that you can start making money right now.

The Formula For A Successful Online Business

    Copyright © Tod Kilgore

Many people dream of starting their own home business and having it become wildly successful. You can find stories everyday of people who have done this, and they talk about how much money they made and how great it is to work for his or her self. But just what is the formula that one must follow to operate one of these successful home businesses?

When it comes to Internet home businesses, there are certain characteristics that a website needs to have in order to be profitable. Once merged, these characteristics become a repeatable formula for success. Let's take a look at just what these characteristics of a successful home Internet business are:

A Solid Commitment By The Owner To Make The Business A Success.

Operating an Internet business from your home is not as simple as setting it up and forgetting about it. Running a home-based web company requires dedication and work on your part, if you want it to be truly successful and profitable. There simply is no get-rich-quick scheme that will bring you success.

A solid commitment by the owner means that you will need to continually learn about your business model and your customers. Successful home-based businesses all share the trait of an owner that is committed to making that business a success. A home-based Internet business requires that you in fact treat it as a business, not a hobby. This means that you will dedicate time to the business, especially in the beginning, to get it set up and to work out all of the bugs. No program, no matter how good it is, can instill this commitment level into you.

Solid Products And Services, With A Secure Shopping Cart, And Easy Navigation For The Customers.

A customer on the Internet, much like a customer offline, requires that you sell products or services that are of high quality. Customers are not willing to buy shoddy products and they look for things like guarantees and warranties, especially when they are shopping on the Internet. Since these customers cannot feel or touch the product that you are selling, they require some sort of promise from you that the product or service will be of high quality.

There are still many customers that do not feel comfortable shopping online for fear that their credit card information will not be safe and secure on the Internet. This is why it is essential that your home-based online business offer a secure shopping cart to the customers when they make a purchase. A shopping cart is the method of which the customer actually makes the purchase and can track exactly which of your products or services that he or she is purchasing.

Easy navigation is a must if you want to make sales. Too many webmasters make sites that are flashy and neat looking, but these sites often confuse and frustrate potential customers. If you have ever been to one of these websites then you know exactly what I am referring to. A website where you cannot find the information that you are looking for, such as the price of the product or an accurate description of that product, results in customers leaving without making a purchase.

Quality Products And/Or Services That People Want To Purchase.

Any business, online or offline, which sells something that nobody wants to purchase, is doomed to fail. It has been said that on the Internet you can find a customer that will buy whatever you are selling no matter how odd or useless that product is. While this may be true that you find "a" customer that will make a purchase, successful companies look for products and services that "many" customers will want to purchase.

Remember that a successful online business requires useful products or services and repeat business from satisfied customers. A useless product may result in a few sales here and there, but in the long run it will not give you the profitability that you need to succeed.

Consistent Promotion And Advertising Of The Business Over The Long Haul.

The Internet is extremely competitive when it comes to acquiring customers. It seems that almost every website has something to sell and each site is working hard to attract customers. This is why you need to develop marketing plan that includes consistent promotion and targeted advertising. No business would be successful in simply creating one marketing campaign and then forgetting about it their marketing altogether. Even companies that have been around for decades, such as the soft drink and automobile companies, are constantly promoting their products, even though everyone knows their brand and their products.

Tracking The Results Of The Home Business Via Metrics.

Quality metrics are a must for any successful venture. Metrics are the methods that you use to learn about your customers and their purchasing trends. Via metrics you will learn what products are actually selling, the demographics of your customers, if there is a particular time of year that your products are in higher demand, and much more.

Without metrics a business owner will not be as efficient as he or she could be. You need to know who your customers are, what they want from you, and how much they are willing to pay for your products or services.

An Owner That Is Willing To Keep Learning, From The People Who Know Have Been Successful Before Them.

When running a home-based business, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Mentoring programs have shown us for decades that learning from those that have been successful in the past is the most effective method of learning. Find any successful business person and you will find someone that is not afraid to learn from others, and more importantly, to learn from others who are more successful than they are in their business model.

Unfortunately, none of us will ever know it all when it comes to running a successful venture, and this is where the continued learning comes into play. There are always new strategies being utilized and developed that you will need to understand in order to be as profitable as you can be.

An Owner Who Is Willing To Invest In His Or Her Own Future.

Investing in your own future means many things when it comes to running an online business. This means that:

  • you are willing to reinvest some of your profits into marketing campaigns that can give you a solid return on investment,

  • you will be willing to pay for continuing education, and

  • you will be willing to spend money to make money

Profitable companies know that they can increase profits by investing into their business and developing new products and services for their customers. They learn from metrics what their customers want to purchase and how to reach those customers.

Of course it is always advisable to take a good look at the payoff, or return on investment, before making a particular investment. Some investments will bring you a higher return than others, so it makes sense to figure out how you can best spend your working capital. It is important to remember that any business not willing to invest and reinvest in itself is sure to fail. Successful businesses are successful, because they continually invest into growing their business.

    In Conclusion...

These characteristics of successful online home-based businesses are proven traits that successful business owners have utilized for years. These are the characteristics that will help you and your home-based business grow and prosper. Together, these characteristics comprise a formula that you can apply to all online business models, no matter how large or small. If you follow this formula for your business, your chances for success are greatly improved, and you will be light years ahead of many of your competitors.
